The Geographic Life Perspective

One of the World's Great Wildlife Encounters

Few wildlife experiences are as intimate or memorable as spending time with a habituated mountain gorilla family in its natural forest environment.

A Forest Worth Protecting

Bwindi is one of Africa's oldest rainforests, recognised for its remarkable biodiversity and the conservation work that continues to safeguard it.

Beyond the Trek

The Batwa Trail provides valuable insight into the people who once lived within these forests, adding cultural perspective to the journey.

Thoughtfully Paced

Beginning and ending in Kigali creates a straightforward route to Bwindi, allowing more time to experience the destination and less time in transit.

Best: June to September is generally the strongest window for gorilla trekking, with drier conditions and more comfortable forest trails.

Good: January, February and December can also work well, depending on permit access, forest conditions and individual travel preferences.

Seasonal: March to May and October to November can be wetter, with muddier trails and a more demanding trekking experience.
